John Groover McDuffie is a multi-talented versatile musician well established in Los Angeles Musical circles. He is accomplished on electric and acoustic guitar, pedal steel, lap steel, dobro and slide guitars. He is also a singer, producer and songwriter/composer.

John has been guitarist for pop icon Rita Coolidge since 1998 and has been her Musical Director since 2005. His work with her in the last couple of years has included two tours of England, frequent appearances in Japan, and a South Korean tour, and a performance recorded for HDnet/DVD project “World Café Live”.

He also performs regularly in the Los Angeles area with The John McDuffie Trio and with a wide variety of artists including The Dearest, Lisa Finnie, I See Hawks in L.A., Lynda Kay, The Psychedelic Cowboys, Ronnie Mack’s Barndance Band, and Jaimi Shuey.

John is currently producing and playing on a new CD project for eclectic Americana artist Jaimi Shuey. He recently produced a CD Rock It Baby for independent artist Maureena and the Maniac Cadillac Band, on which he also played guitars and steel guitar. He appears live and on recent CD releases with a variety of Los Angeles artists including Lisa Finnie Cest La Vie En Rose, I See Hawks In LA Grapevine, Shoulda Been Gold, The Psychedelic Cowboys Corral Choral, Jangle Waltz, Jaimi Shuey Wrong Girl, and Ben Vaughn Designs in Music.

John has composed music for several independent films and television, and is a graduate of Musician's Institute and the UCLA Extension Film Scoring Program.
